God's Covenant with Noah Genesis 9.17 By: Mary Andrew
The important events that happened in Gn 9-17 is that sin was getting out of control and God wanted to put a stop to it. The first the thing that happens is God recognizes that sin is becoming part of the world and he decides to destroy human beings and all creations with the earth. God tells Noah to build the Ark with exact instructions so he can protect himself and his family. Finally, God told Noah to take one male and one female of every kind of creation, and to provide food to keep himself and the others alive.
"When the LORD saw how great the wickedness of human beings was on earth, and how every desire that their heart conceived was always nothing but evil, the LORD regretted making human beings on the earth and his heart was grieved," (Gn 6: 5-6)
God said to Noah: I see that the end of all mortals has come for the earth is full of lawlessness because of them. So I am going to destroy them This is how you shall build it: the length of the ark will be three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits," (Gn 6: 13-15)
" You shall go into the ark, you and your sons and your wife and your sons. Of all living creatures you shall bring two of every kind into the ark, one male and one female, to keep them alive along with you," (Gn 6: 18b-19)
"Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on tbe earth" - Genesis 9.16
