Storyboard Text

  • I don't really know boss. Let me look into it and how to fix it.
  • What's going on here? Why is nothing getting done?
  • How might one's working memory capacity effect how much creativity someone has and how can this information help in the business industry?
  • Hmmmm. This might be a good article.
  • To: Boss From:Alisha I found a study on how detaching from our reality is good for creativity. And that could increase production. I'll see you in 15 minutes to explain more about it.
  • Hmmmm...
  • I found a study that tested people's working memory capacity and creativity. WMC is how much stuff your brain can hold at one time before it is stored. They gave them a task, and saw that people with lower working memory capacity are more productive in the task than those with higher working memory capacity.
  • Okay. What did you find that would increase our productivity?
  • This is because they are distracting their working memory, allowing more creativity in finding the solution. It could be coffee shop noise, music, walking, daydreaming in the shower, drinking alcohol, dimming the lights. We can do all of these things, except the drinking and showering, throughout the workday to increase our productivity in problem solving.
  • Mhmmmm. Okay.
  • 4 Months later...
  • I'm glad that my research has helped the company.
  • Since we dimmed the lights and started playing moderate music, productivity has increased. I am pleased.
