Storyboard Text

  • Fort Sumpter (1861)
  • The Battle of Antietam (1862)
  • Hey its the Confederates plans!
  • The Emancipation Proclamation (1863)
  • All slaves fighting in rebel status states are free
  • Fort Sumpter was a Union fort. The Cofederacy wanted the fort so they asked for the Union to give it over. They didn’t so the Cofederacy opened fire. They gained the fort and started the Civil War
  • The Battle of Gettysburg (1863)
  • Robert E. Lee plans to invade the North but someone drop the cigar with the plans in it and a Union soldier finds it so they stop Lee’s army.
  • Appomattox Court House (1865)
  • Lincoln writes this proclamation that frees all slaves in a state in rebellion, but the south states didn’t think Lincoln was still their president so it didn’t free any slaves. It paved the way to end slavery
  • Assassination of Lincoln (1865
  • The Union soldiers stumbled upon the confederate soldiers while they were looking for supplies. They started this 3 day War that looked like a tie but on the 3rd day Pickett lead a charge across the field and the Union was able to pick of lots of the soldiers. This was their 1st win and a turning point in the war.
  • We need supplies!!!
  • Lee’s army was trapped so he surrendered to Usyless E. Grant the Union general. The terms were very generous because they gave them food and water and let them keep their horses.
  • While watching a play with his wife Lincoln was shot in the back of the head by John Wilkes Booth. Later Booth was caught and killed. After this the U.S. would have to go on without his leadership, knowledge and life.
