  • RETREAT UNION RETREAT!
  • Have mercy!
  • Abraham Lincoln, the president, did not believe in slavery. This made southern states angry but Lincoln refused to let them secede.
  • The Union wins!
  • On April 19, 1861, confederates attacked Fort Sumter and began the Civil War.
  • General we've lost so many men.
  • On July 21, 1861, the Union Army suffers a great defeat at Bull Run. 3,000 Union soldiers died and 1750 Confederates died.
  • Grant i'm forced surrender.
  • Finally we are back to one nation!
  • The Union army suffered many defeats in battle until 1863. The Union won the battle of Gettysburg at a high price. This was the turning point of the war.
  • In March 1865, the war of Appomattox Court House took place. General Lee Grant finally realized he needed to do what was best for the South. They had lost too many men and couldn't give up anymore.
  • In 1869 Lee surrenders to Grant and the North wins the Civil War.
