Frederick Douglass was born in February, 1818, as a captive slave. He was eventually moved away from his parents.
Young Frederick was taught by his mistress, because she had sympathy for him. By the time his master found out, he had learned a few letters of the alphabet.
These few letters helped Frederick Douglass become an excellent writer and speaker. He escaped from slavery on a train, on which he had a friend's passport. He helped spark thousands of abolitionists with his autobiography, and started an abolitionist newspaper, called the North Star.

When the Civil War came up he couldn't pass up the opportunity to fight with the confederates. At the battle of Bull Run the South had given up and decided to retreat. He couldn't let that happen so he stayed behind with led to a Confederate victory.
Stonewall Jackson was shot by a friendly fire where someone on your side accidentally shoots you. Stonewall Jackson did not die of the wound. He had recovered but eight days later he died of pnumeonia
