  • Fishing was not only a food source, but a way to make money. But much like the lumber industry, fishing was exhausted. over-fishing was one reason.
  • People like native Americans and pioneers fished and dried the fish then sold to other cities. 
  • Coal was used to heat homes and provide power for some machines. The first people to start mining were Chinese, England and wales, and also African-American Some factories even sent kids out to get coal.
  • I have found the greatest coal mine in the Puget sound lowland and cascade mountains! 1886 is the best year in kittitas county!
  • The coal mining led to the Roslyn coal field. Roslyn and Cle elum sprouted up overnight
  • We teamed up together to help each other farm!
  • They grew wheat and hops. That also let Chinese and Hispanic to come to. Apples also became a big crop to grow.
