  • Fishing was not only a food source, but a way to make money. But much like the lumber industry, fishing was exhausted. over-fishing was one reason.

  • Coal was used to heat homes and provide power for some machines. The first people to start mining were Chinese, England and wales, and also African-American Some factories even sent kids out to get coal.
