  • Revenge
  • My wife is no witch!
  • Elizabeth Proctor sent out her spirit and stabbed me with this needle.
  • Redemption
  • I John Proctor, have redeemed myself today. I will die for my sins and my name shall live on!
  • Reputation
  • The town shall not know about this witchcraft, they will take me out of power if the word gets around. 
  • Abigail Williams is in love with John Proctor. She accuses his wife of witchcraft so she and John can be together. Abby has been chasing John since they met, and she can not stand John's wife or John being with his wife. 
  • Greed
  • And who told you this knowledge sir?
  • As John Proctor is hanged he redeems his character, he died for everyone else and to show that he was a good christian man. 
  • Lust
  • I still love you John, just leave Elizabeth and come be with me.
  • Reverend Parris says that if the town finds out about his daughter being "enchanted" that he will lose his authority. Reverend Parris cares more about his social and political status than his own daughter. 
  • Lies and Deceit 
  • John Proctor forced me to work for the devil or he would have killed me.
  • Giles Corey goes to the court to say that by law Mr. Putnam has to hand over his land because he is associated with witchcraft. But he has no proof of that, therefore he is just greedy for all the land he can get. 
  • If Putnam hangs for a witch then his property is forfeited and I will own it. 
  • Abigail Williams still loves John Proctor very much, and she wants John to leave his wife to be with her. 
  • I will burn in hell before I ever touch you again!
  • Mary Warren lies about John Proctor forcing her to work for the devil. This is to get her out of trouble and put all the blame on John Proctor. 
  • God is dead!!
