The Adventures of the Boy and his kite By: Mason Harris p.2
It was a nice day out and Steve decided to fly his kite. He got it stuck in a tree. He stood 16 feet away from tree. He is looking at a 69 degree angle. He wonders how high the kite is. So he uses trig. He finds out that Tan(69)*16= 41.68. So the kite is 42 feet high.
Since the kite was to high for Steve to reach. He decided to fly his other kite just like the one before. The wind started blowing and he got it stuck again 12 foot up and his angle from the tree is 65. He is going to use trig to see how far he is. He finds out that 10/tan(65)= 4.6. He is only 4.7 feet away.
Steve got really sad and went inside to cry to his mom.
Since he didn't wanna get another kite stuck, he wanted to find the elevation. Since he is 4 foot away from the 8 foot tree, to find the angle of elevation he uses trig again. He figures out that the angle is Tan-1(8/4)= 63.43 Degree=63.3
Steve never got another kite stuck! THE END!!!!!
