Storyboard Text

  • Jonas's father took a baby home to take care of him. He work as nurturer, so he was in charge of the baby called Gabriel.
  • He's so cute!!
  • Ceremony of Twelve, Jonas becomes the new Receiver after being skipped in the job assignment.
  • Jonas has been selected to be the new Reciever of the community.
  • The Giver give the first memory to Jonas.
  • You will recieve your first memory, the snow.
  • ''It was the first thing Jonas noticed as he looked at the newchild peering up curiously from the basket. The pale eyes. Almost every citizen in the community had dark eyes. His parents did, and Lily did, and so did all of his group members and friends. But there were a few exceptions: Jonas himself, and a female Five who he had noticed had the different, lighter eyes.''
  • Jonas knows the truth about the release and organize a plan with the giver to save the community and give them back the memories.
  • ''Jonas has not been assigned, Jonas has been selected. Jonas has been selected to be our next Receiver of Memory. Our  community has only one Receiver. It is he who trains his successor. We have had our current Receiver for a very long time. We failed in our last selection. It was ten years ago, when Jonas was just a toddler. I will not dwell on the experience because it causes us all terrible discomfort. We have not been hasty this time. We could not afford another failure.''
  • Jonas escape from the community with Gabriel to give back the memories to them and to save the baby from release.
  • ''Now he became aware of an entirely new sensation: pinpricks? No, because they were soft and without pain. Tiny, cold, featherlike feelings  peppered his body and face. He putout his tongue again, and caught one of the dots of cold upon it. It disappeared from his awareness instantly; but he caught another, and another. The sensation made him smile. ''
  • After a lot of weeks escaping, Jonas reached a mountain that he received as a memory and a sled they used to go down the mountain
  • Now we are free!
  • ''The community has depended, all these generations, back and back and back, on a resident Receiver to hold their memories for them. I've turned over many of them to you in the past year. And I can't take them back. There's no way for me to get them back if I have given them.  If you get away, if you get beyond, if you get to Elsewhere, it will mean that the community has to bear the burden themselves, of the memories you had been holding for them.''
  • We need to give them back the memories, Jonas.
  • ''Sometimes, urging the memories into Gabriel, Jonas felt that they were more shallow, a little weaker than they had been. It was what he had hoped, and what he and The Giver had planned: that as he moved away from the community, he would shed the memories and leave them be-hind for the people.
  • ''But he began, suddenly, to feel happy. He began to recall happy times. He remembered his parents and his sister. He remembered his friends, Asher and Fiona. He remembered The Giver. Memories of joy flooded through him suddenly.''
