A Baker felt that he was hungry so he decided to make a cookie for himself. The Baker mashed some flour, eggs and ginger together, to make gingerbread dough. He then cut the dough into the shape of a man. He put the Gingerbread Man on a tray and slid him into the oven to be baked.
As the Baker was removing the tray from the oven, the Gingerbread Man jumped from the pan and ran out the door. As the Gingerbread Man ran out the door, he said "You can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread Man."
As the Gingerbread Man was running through the forest the Baker said, "Stop, stop!" But the Gingerbread Man kept on running.
While the Gingerbread Man was running through the forest he came upon a Horse who said "Stop, I want to eat you!" But again, the Gingerbread Man said, "You can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread Man."
Just before reaching the river he met a Fox. Startled by the Fox the Gingerbread Man yelped, "Don't eat me!" The Fox replied, "Don't worry, I just want to help you across the river."
Once on dry land on the far side of the river, the Gingerbread Man thanked the Fox for helping him across the river. As soon as the Gingerbread man turned around to continue running, the Fox gobbled him up.
