  • The election of 1824 was very different for a couple of reasons. After no candidate received a vote majority the winner was to be decided by the house of representatives under the 12th amendment. One former candidate Henry Clay who was eliminated was also a speaker of the house with a huge influence on the election. He and John Quincy Adam made a deal so that Adams got the presidency and Clay was later appointed Secretary Of State in return for his vote in the house.
  • You will now be Tariffed!!
  • Don't Worry just Nullify it!
  • Not My Crops!
  • President Jackson, after losing in 1824 was determined to win this years election. Despite the truthfulness of the statement Jackson ran as the people's president and for the"common man". later on you will see he did in fact try to make the government more citizen-centered but not all of that turned out so well.
  • sorry sir but you must move to Oklahoma by order of President Jackson!
  • This is unfair we are an independent nation!
  • Cherokee
  • After Andrew Jackson became president, he started something called the spoils system giving bureaucratic or non-electable positions to his followers nicknamed his "Kitchen Cabinet".
  • I will rid the nation of this  Unconstitutional Mess!
  • Your gonna regret that when the nation's economy dies!!
  •    The Nullification Crisis was a critical event of the Jacksonian era. In this era after President Andrew Jackson declared a tariff on imported goods making farmers down south in North Carolina  upset because that was there main income. The current vice president at the time John Calhoun told the states they could Nullify the law if they wanted to which of course President Jackson didn't like, leading to further conflict until eventually the Federal government decided to lower the tariff.
  • President Andrew Jackson because of influence from settlers forced the natives out of their own land and into a packed Oklahoma territory with the other tribes. This lead to the death of thousand of natives during the Trail Of Tears.
  •            Jackson, in a last effort to "establish Democracy" decided that the Nation Bank was unconstitutional and a symbol of big government. After he eventually destroyed it through the removal of its money, the national economy dropped in 1837 leading to a early economic depression. Andrew Jackson's presidency controversial or not truly was a  government "for the people by the people" expanding and promoting Democracy for many generations to come.
