William Weatherford led the Red Stick Creek attack against Fort Mims in 1813, changing a civil war among the Creek Indians into an American war of retaliation against the Creek Nation. He later was forced to surrender by Andrew Jackson in the battle of calebee. This was a peaceful surrenderence
He was the chief or the red eagles. His grave is in Baldwin county and engraved on his grave are his names, William "Red Eagle" Weatherford
He is related to my family on my mothers side. He was my moms great grandmothers half brother
