  • Its the 1850s, we should have free public schools
  • Women are getting to go to school more and more
  • I am going to create a college for both men and women!!
  • WHY WOULD YOU LET WOMEN GO TO COLLEGE!!!!!!

  • I'm poor and because of you I now get to go to school 
  • This is the Start of the reform. The start of the reform was about making schools more affordable but, they were still mostly white. The schools were also still mostly men
  • Schools 
  • Im very happy to be the president of a college for both men and women
  • When the first male and female college was announced there was a lot of people that didn't like it. Most colleges were only men. Although the college was men and women it was still only whites.

  • You didn't just become the president of the first college for men and women but, you and other reformers completely changed the way schools work
  • Horace Mann was one of the biggest reformers and because of him more people got to go to school. This is a child saying thank you to Horace Mann for getting schools cheaper.

  • Yeah, you made schools more affordable and less sexist. You brought education out of the hands of the rich and into the hands of everyone.
  • This is Horace Mann as the President of the first male and female school. Horace Mann was one of the most influential reformers. Horace Mann had been the Massachusetts supervisor of education before he became the president of this college. 
  • In this scene Students are talking to Horace Mann about how him and other reformers completely changed how schools work. Schools used to be extremely sexist and racist but, after the reform schools became a lot more fair. 
  • Because of Horace Mann schools became available to everyone and not just the rich which is so important because that applys to not only then but, it helps kids today get an education too. Even Today we remember Horace Mann for his leadership in the reform.
