Storyboard Text

  • Those rude British are placing unnecessary revenues on us when we should be the ones placing taxes on ourselves!
  • My playing cards too!
  • STAMP ACT
  • Look! The foolish Stamp Act that taxes my playing cards!
  • BURN IT!
  • PAY YOUR TAXES
  • effigy
  • You can not make us buy anything! You are not the king!
  • Yes! If your so-called "king" is going to tax me, I might as well not live in these colonies at all!
  • BUY MY NEWSPAPERS! I am running out of money because of you people.
  • The Stamp Act taxed all printed materials: paper, even playing cards.
  • The Sons Of Liberty, however, protested the Stamp Act by burning effigies, which were basically scarecrows diguised as tax collectors.
  • The Sons of Liberty also encouraged the colonists to boycott the printed items that the Stamp Act taxed, so that maybe the Stamp Act would be removed.
