  • I see a vacant seat
  • David's nephew comes by his work to wish him a merry Christmas and David tells him he hates Christmas. David goes home after work and a ghost comes to visit him. The ghost is one of his old co-workers named Jim and he tells him he will be visited by three ghosts in the next night. 
  • Stave 4 
  • Hear me! I am not the man I was. I will not be the man I must have been but for this intercourse.  I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try and keep it all the year. 
  • The ghost of Christmas past shows up and takes David to where he grew up and to his old school. David is so shocked and becomes very excited to be back there. The ghost then takes him to a party thrown by his old apprentice and other places that are familiar to his past. 
  • Stave 5 
  • I am not going to stand this sort of thing any longer, and that is why I am about to raise your salary! 
  • The ghost of Christmas present appears to David and takes him to the busy streets on Christmas morning. The ghost then takes David to Jim Bob's house where they watch them eat there small Christmas meal and see Small Billy. They also go to a number of other Christmas gatherings including David's nephew, Cole's house.

  • The last ghost appears to David and is wearing a black hooded robe. The ghost then takes David to strange places such as a stock exchange, a group of men discussing the death of a man, a pawn shop, the dinner table of a poor family and the household of Jim Bob, where they are coping with the death of Small Billy. They then travel to a graveyard where his name appears on one of the graves. David hangs on to the spirit and tells him he will be a better person. 
  • DAVID 
  • David awakens on Christmas morning and he is overjoyed. He goes out on the streets and tells the first boy he sees to buy the biggest turkey and take it to Jim Bob's house. David then tells a man that he will donate to charity and he goes to his nephews Christmas party and has a great time. The day after Christmas he goes to work and when Jim Bob shows up late David says he will raise Jim's salary. David becomes great friends with Jim Bob and his family and loves Small Billy.
