The Battle of Fort Sumter was only the very beginning of the Civil War. The Confederacy was the side who started this battle. The Civil War officially had started when the Union fired back.

This battle lasted two whole days. There were 23,000 casualties total. The Union won which led to Abraham Lincoln writing the Emancipation Proclamation.
Battle of Gettysburg
The Battles of Bull Run were the first major battles in the Civil War. The Union invaded Virginia. The Confederacy won both of these battles.
Battle of Palmito Ranch
This battle took place in Tennessee. The Confederacy attacked the Union in fear, and the Union won. There were 23,746 casualties.
The Confederacy had tried to invade the Union through Pennsylvania. It lasted three days and was the bloodiest battle of the Civil War. The Union won and the Confederacy would never try to attack them again.
