  • Stalin Repeatedly asked Churchill and Roosevelt to make a second front in order to invade occupied France. This would force Germany to draw troops away from Russia to deal with them. Churchill hesitated at the idea.
  • After a while, they finally decided to put their plan in motion. They deemed the weather on June 6th 1944 would be perfect to begin their invasion. General Eisenhower gave the simple orders of 'Let's Go!!' to start the invasion
  • Let's Go!!
  • The invasion took the Germans completely by surprise. As there weren't any good ports for soldiers to transport supplies, they thought the allies would take the shortest route to attack.
  • It doesn't make sense!
  • What the Germans didn't know was that the Allies were bringing across their own 'ports'. they were essentially portable ports which could transport tanks, trucks and supplies to be unloaded across seas. Hitler held back 500 tanks as he still didn't believe it was the real invasion. The allies got a firm grip on French soil.
