Turner was born on October 2, 1800. He was born on Virginia Plantation. He mother name was Nancy and he knew nothing about his father. As a small child, Turner was thought to have some special talent because he could describe things that happened before he was even born.
Nat Turner was the leader of a violent slave rebellion in Southampton County, Virginia, in 1831. On August 21, 1831, Turner and his supporters began their revolt against white slave owners with the killing the Travis family. People say that he and his group killed 55 white men, women, and children.
Nat Turner was important because he put an impact on the U.S for what he did. And he wanted to let black people to know that they were not weak. But after the attack white people went on and killed over 100-200 black males. He was eventually captured on October 30, 1831.
