Storyboard Text

  • My name is Phillip Hamilton, and I dueled against George Eacker. I challenged him to save my fathers honor, despite the fact that Eacker wasn't talking about him. I died 14 hours later due to an infection.
  • 1801
  • My name is Andrew Jackson. I am the only President that killed a man via dueling. I survive, but Charles Dickinson over there is shot and killed.
  • 1806
  • 1819
  • My name is John Mason McCarty, and I just shot my step cousin Armistead Thomson Mason. This duel was sparked by the Fifteenth Congress election. Many other duels were started because of the election.
  • All those examples are nice and all, however, we should focus on the Modern Day. Some could say certain sports were 'sparked' or 'inspired' by dueling. Example of these sports can be found in the next two slots, and coincidentally the final slots.

  • Wrestling could be seen as a less dangerous form of dueling, or a diffusion of it. However, wrestling could be traced back to around 15,000 years ago, and dueling was started in medieval times. Wrestling has been a lot more popular since the 1800's (When dueling was banned in most states) (Not including World War II were it declined)
  • Present Day
  • Boxing is a sport that is a lot like wrestling, however, it uses locks and holds. It was founded around 3000 BC, but has become a lot more popular in the last 200 years (Not including World War II were it declined)
