  • Trenton
  • On Christmas Day, 1776, General George Washington and his army crossed the icy Delaware River. 
  • !!!
  • When they arrived, Washington split up his men alongside Nathaniel Greene and John Sullivan and gave them orders to disperse in flanking columns (to go around the town from the sides).
  • Canons were fired by the Redcoats, and soon after, everyone opened fire. 
  • VICTORY!!!
  • General Washington gave orders to his troops throughout the battle. 
  • Johann Rall, a German military leader, was shot from his horse and severely wounded. The Hessians suffered 20 casualties while the colonials suffered 4.
  • In the end, there were 24 casualties, 92 wounded, and 918 captured. 400 managed to escape and it was a big victory for the colonials.
