Welcome to St. Mary's Cathedral! Thank you for joining us! Today we will learn about Baptism!
Isn't Baptism the "chief sacrament of forgiveness"? And is it true that when we are baptized, we are born into a new life with Christ?
Yes! However, Baptism can only be received once. And once you receive it, you are granted with the "indelible mark", which seals you forever as a member in the Church.
But what about the symbols of Baptism? Water is one of them right? Representing purity, cleansing, and a new beginning from the mark of original sin?
Yes! Water is one of the many symbols of Baptism. Other signs are a lit candle to represent the light of Christ and some sort of white garment to represent the pure and simple life with God and how original sin has been removed.
What are some of the rites of Baptism?
One of the rites of Baptism is immersing the person being Baptized into water three times; each time for the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Another rite would be a priest or bishop leading the ceremony, rather than a deacon.
