Storyboard Text

  • "You're bigger'n he is...Let him go, Scout."
  • "He made me start off on the wrong foot."
  • "Come to dinner with us, Walter...Our daddy's a friend of your daddy's."
  • Of course, I'll go get it.
  • Can I have some molasses?
  • Scout caught Walter Cunningham in the schoolyard and rubbed his nose in the nose because she blamed him for her starting off on the wrong foot. Then, Jem arrived and broke up the fight.
  • What the sam hill are you doin"? "He's gone and drowned his dinner in syrup".
  • Scout, come in here!
  • Jem asked Walter to come to dinner with them and promised him that Scout would not bother him anymore.
  • "Don't matter who they are, anybody sets foot in this house's yo' comp'ny...if you can't act fit to eat at the table you can just set here and eat in the kitchen!"
  • "There's some folks who don't eat like us...That boy's yo' comp'ny and if wants to eat up the table cloth you let him, you hear?"
  • "He ain't company, Cal, he's just a Cunningham—"
  • They all piled food on their plates and Walker was talking to Atticus when Walter suddenly asked for some molasses.
  • "You never really understand a person until you...climb into his skin and walk around in it.
  • After Walter got the molasses he generously poured it all over his meat and vegetables. Scout then asked him what the sam hill he was doing which made Calpurnia call her into the kitchen.
  • Calpurnia lectures Scout for how she treated Walter at the table and tells her that since she can't be nice she has to finish eating dinner in the kitchen.
  • Later that night Scout told Atticus all about her terrible first day of school and Atticus gave her a very useful piece of advice.
