  • On the way to the land of the dead~
  • Zzz..
  • Odysseus and his men reached the land of the dead. Here are their thoughts.
  • Where is the sun? Why is it so dark?
  • Wine, sweet milk and honey, clear water, and barley was put in the pit as an offering from Odysseus and his crew.
  • Water
  • That is probably for me...
  • Milk
  • I am the most handsomest of all the flock.
  • Barley
  • Currently, Odysseus and his men just left Circe's Island and they are headed towards the Land of the Dead on a breeze sent by Circe. "But now a breeze came up for us astern- a canvas-bellying land breeze, hale shipmate sent by the singing nymph with sun bright hair."
  • :(
  • Stand back!
  • "Never the flaming eye of Helios lights on those men at morning." The land of the dead has never seen the rosy-fingered dawn.
  • During their time in the land of the dead, they bumped into Elpenor. Now his death is gettin explained.
  • Cause of Death: falling and breaking his neck after heavily drinking
  • ZZZ...NO!
  • Once on the land they went to a place given to them by Circe and started to lure the dead with offerings. "I spaded up the votive pit, and poured libations round it to the unnumbered dead." As for Tiresias, he got a black lamb.
  • "Unhappy sprit, I promise you the barrow and the burial."
  • "Do not abandon me unwept and unburied."
  • "brides and young men, and men grown old in pain, and tender girls whose hearts were new to grief; many were there, too, torn by brazen lanceheads battle-slain, bearing still their bloody gear." Many souls gathered around the bloody pit, but Odysseus drew out his sword to keep them away from the libations. Hades and Persephone got burnt offerings of flesh.
  • Where is Tiresias? I need to find him.
  • Elpenor fell and broke his neck after attempting to reach for a ladder while he was intoxicated. "I drank with so much wine, I slept on Circe's roof, then could not see the long steep backward ladder, coming down, and fell that height. My neckbone, buckled under, snapped, and my spirit found this well of dark."
  • Elpenor asks of Odysseus to go back to Aeaea for a proper burial. Which includes burning his corpse and his belongings and building a cairn to hold his oar on it.
