The Rainbow Serpent Long ago in the dreamtime when the Earth slept, the rainbow serpent was awake and slithering.
The Rainbow Snake first decided to make flowing water, so he then tickled the world's frogs and they laughed out water, which flowed throughout the canyons the Serpent had made to move around in.
The Rainbow Serpent also decided to make sure everyone followed him as he was most powerful. The people who disobeyed the Serpent were punished and therefore turned to stone, slowly creating the terrain of hills and mountains.
Those who did what the Rainbow Serpent said were turned to different animals, each one representing a tribe of aboriginals. To make sure the animals didn't die off, the aboriginals were allowed to hunt and eat all animals except for their tribe one.
