While Christopher is in the tunnel, he sees many signs. Since there are so many, they all get jumbled up in his brain and make it hard for him to think and see straight.
Christopher talks to a woman at the Information window. As he does this, he can feel his heart beating very fast, and he hears a rushing noise in his ears.
I'm going to die...
After talking to the lady at the information booth and then buying his ticket, Christopher sees some escalators that he has to go on. People stand very close to him, which makes Christopher want to hit them, but he doesn't.
Christopher makes it to the little tube station. There are lots more people there, and Christopher sits on a bench to try to be away from them. Someone does, however, inevitably touch him, and this makes him feel very sick. He starts groaning very loudly.
As the train pulls up, it is very loud. Christopher compares it to a fire or the station collapsing and thinks he is going to die, so he closes his eyes. When he finally opens them, he is sweating profusely and moaning like an injured dog.
After the train leaves, the station fills up with people once again. Christopher keeps sweating, feeling sick, and finding it difficult to breathe. He compares it to being stuck in bed with the flu.
