Storyboard Text

  • Is that Joe Pepitone and Horace Clarke?
  • I can't believe we missed Micky Mantle.
  • I'm Danny.
  • It is them!
  • I'm Holling.
  • I'm Doug.
  • Do you guys want to play baseball with us?
  • Which one of you is Holling?
  • This is super awesome!
  • This is great!
  • I know!
  • Unfortunately, Holling missed an autograph session with Micky Mantle because he had to be in a play.  Since he missed the autograph session, Mrs. Baker had baseball players, Joe Pepitone and Horace Clarke come to Camillo Junior High and play baseball with Holling, Danny, and Doug.  In this cell, the boys walk into the gym, and to their surprise, find Joe Pepitone and Horace Clarke sitting in the bleachers.
  • Thanks guys!
  • Bye guys!
  • In this scene,  Holling, Doug, and Danny introduce themselves and meet Joe Pepitone and Horace Clarke.   Joe Pepitone then asks the boys if they want to play baseball with himself and Horace. Without a second thought, the boys all say yes to this offer.
  • In this cell, Horace Clarke plays baseball with Holling, while Joe Pepitone plays baseball with Doug and Danny.  Then, Horace plays baseball with Danny and Doug while Holling plays with Joe. After about a half hour, Joe and Horace have to leave.
  • In this final cell, Joe Pepitone and Horace Clarke drive away while Holling, Danny, and Doug wave goodbye to them. I believe this entire scene from The Wednesday Wars was important to the book because it showed how Mrs. Baker cared for Holling, because she got baseball players to play baseball with Holling and his friends when they missed out on Micky Mantle.
