  • Marbury v Madison
  • Farmers had a riot because of a tax made on whiskey in Pennsylvania 1791-1794. They believed it was unfair since they made and sold alcohol. George Washington led an army to stop the riot. It proved that the U.S. government was willing to control a protest with military force.

  • An act to establish the Judicial Courts of the United States an was signed by George Washington on September 24, 1789. The Constitution established a Supreme Court, but left Congress to create a lower federal court.
  • Sedition Act
  • Marbury v. Madison was a legal case on February 24, 1803 in which the U.S Supreme Court first declared an act of Congress unconstitutional, which established the doctrine of judicial review.
  • Louisiana Purchase
  • Americans didn't want immigrants so congress released the Alien Act to give the president the ability to deport immigrants.

  • Jefferson was the American president during the Louisiana Purchase. The United States wanted only New Orleans and the land around it. The purchase had a issue being unconstitutional. Jefferson couldn’t deny the Constitution of the United States didn't provide for gaining new territories but he decided to continue the purchase.
