Summary of: "A Hippy-Hoppy Toad" Written By: Peggy Archer Illustrated By: Anne Wilsdorf
This story follows a tiny toad on his journey down the road. It begins: "In the middle of a puddle in the middle of a road on a teeter-totter twig sat a teeny-tiny toad" (Archer, 2018, p. 2).
Unexpectedly, the twig breaks and sends the teeny-tiny toad flying through the air. Thus his journey begins.
On his journey, the teeny-tiny toad encounters many animals to include a bird, a bee, a cricket, a dog, and a lizard. He also comes into contact with the wind and a sneaker.
The author utilizes onomatopoeias to introduce each creature that teeny-tiny toad encounters.
At the end of the teeny-tiny toad's journey, he returns back to his teeter-totter twig in the middle of the road. Reference: Archer, P., & Wildsorf, A. (Illustrator). (2018). "A Hippy-Hoppy Toad." New York: Schwartz & Wade Books.
