Storyboard Text

  • Daniel Boon was born on November 2, 1734, and was born in the town of Reading, Pennsylvania.
  • Boon was less educated than the other six brother's or sister's. His mother taught him to read and write but his father taught Boon something that would catch his interest, wilderness survival.
  • When Daniel was only 12 years old, his father taught him how to use a gun. Also when Daniel was 12 his father gave him his first rifle and at 12 years old, Boon killed his first bear with a knife.
  • Boon lead many expeditions and military expeditions, mostly involving war.
  • Then in 1775, Boon claimed and settled in an area in Kentucky while he was working for someone, he named that piece of land Boonesborough.
  • On September 26, 1820, Boon died a normal death at his home in Femme Osage Creek, he was reburied 2 decades later in Kentucky.
