  • Gastrointestinal: esophagus - stress can cause a person to eat more than enough or not enough food, especially if alcohol and tobacco are used, which can cause heartburn or acid reflux stomach - the brain becomes hyperaware of sensations in this area and can cause pains, nausea, or even vomiting
  • Gastrointestinal: bowel- stress can impact digestion and what nutrients the body can absorb diarrhea or constipation can result if this is not taken care of properly
  • Cardiovascular:  increase in heart rate and blood pressure blood vessels dilate if chronic, higher risk of stroke, heart attack, or hypertension increase in cholesterol levels
  • Female Reproductive System: stress can cause an irregular menstrual cycle which can result in mood swings, fluid retention, and cramps hot flashes may be stronger and more often stress can cause tiredness and less sexual desire
