  • Mme. Loisel is a fair woman who wishes for more expensive things and a more lavish lifestyle.
  • Climax
  • One day, M. Loisel tells Mme. Loisel the two have be invited to a fancy event. Instead of being happy, Mme. Loisel is upset because she does not have a dress or jewels to wear to such an event.
  • Falling Action
  • M. Loisel gives her enough money to buy a dress and Mme. Loisel decides to borrow a necklace from her friend, Mme. Forestier. Mme. Forestier allows her to borrow a diamond necklace as long as she returned it.
  • Resolution
  • After the party, Mme. Losiel realizes she lost the necklace. After looking for forever and not finding it, they decide to replace, even though the necklace is very costly, 36,000 frances.
  • M. Loisel had to borrow much money to pay for the necklace, To get out of their debt, the Loisels had to work hard. In the process, the two became very poor.
  • Year later, Mme. Loisel bumps into Mme. Forestier. Mme. Loisel decides to come clean and tell Mme. Forestier she lost the necklace and replaced it. Mme. Forstier says it was okay and that the necklace was a fake diamond and it only cost 500 frances.
