  • Hubris– excessive pride and disrespect for the natural order of things
  • When Oedipus hears from Teiresias, that it was he who killed laius he is furious and never thinks it could be him witch shows his pride
  • Anagnorisis – a moment in time when hero makes an important discovery in the story
  • Thats stupid old man creon must want to be king.I would never kill the king
  • U killed laius and are causing this plague
  • Oedipus and his mother are not aware, until Oedipus begins looking at his past and attempting to find out who his parents are. After they figure it out the prophecy is fulfilled and the curses will be too
  • Nemesis – a punishment that the protagonist cannot avoid, usually occurring as a result of his hubris
  • Hamartia – a tragic flaw that causes the downfall of a hero
  • My Wife hung herself. Let me poke my eyes out because i can't see the truth when i can see
  • This is a huge foreshadowing in the story and it is that moment where everything goes bad for him. It is the turning point in the story.
  • Catharsis – feelings of pity and fear felt by the audience, for the inevitable downfall of the protagonist
  • Peripeteia – The reversal of fate that the hero experiences
  • O, how gruesomely clearly it has all unravelled! O light! Let me enjoy you for one last time
  • This is a huge discovery because this missing piece is how his past comes together
  • That three-way crossing, where I spilled my father’s blood –my blood, with my own hands
  • He tries so hard to defy the prophecy but he just walks into the trap of doing
  • I'm going to leave home because i am not going to kill my father and kill my mother. Apollo doesn't know anything
  • No One enjoyed the graphic description of him poking his eyes out and the audience is just cringing. We all knew this would happen from the prophecies.
  • If I still had my eyes, old man, how could I face Hades in the underworld? How could I face my parents after what I had done to them both? For such atrocious acts, suicide is too small a price to pay
