After being elected in 1824, Jackson spent 4 years campaigning with the fact that he was only the "common man." former presidents such as Thomas Jefferson were geniuses and very unique. His goal was to get more power for the people.

During Jackson's presidency, South Carolina was furious about the tariffs that were made, they threatened to succeed and Jackson knew how catastrophic that would be for America.

In 1830, Jackson had a law created that said all of the major tribes had to move to designated Indian territory. The Cherokee refused to move and the case went tp the Supreme Court. What Jackson was doing was ruled unconstitutional but he ignored that and forced the Cherokee to move. Most of them died on their way to the territory.
Jacksons last act as president was to get rid of the national bank, he believed it was unconstitutional.
