Throughout the story we thought Brently Mallard was dead. Although, at the end of the story he was alive, and has been alive. " Someone was opening the front door with a latchkey. It was Brently Mallard who entered, a little travel-stained, composedly carrying his grip-sack and umbrella."
At the beginning of the story Josephine AND the people reading knew that Brently Mallard was dead, but she did not. " Knowing that Mrs. Mallard was afflicted with a heart trouble, great care was taken to break to her as gently as possible the news of her husbands death."
Mrs. Mallard is married to Brently mallard. She wasn't happily married. Is a greedy type of person. She loves money a lot. She also had her trouble. " Knowing that Mrs. Mallard was afflicted with a heart trouble." Mrs. Mallard was also very self centered, from what we talked about in class, she liked money so much she was willing to marry a guy that she didn't love, let alone like.
