Ancient Romes Government
Did you know Rome was first ruled by a monarchy?
A monarchy is when you are being ruled by a king. This was shown in Rome because the kings had all the power and made all the decisions without the opinions of the citizens. The kings were not even chosen by the people they were inherited.
I hate to ask, but what is a monarchy?
The citizens of Rome soon realized that they should be able to have a say in things and choose their rulers. So they created a republic which is similar to a democracy and is ruled by the people. The republic allowed the citizens ( which is all born men ) to vote on who they wanted to be elected as their ruler.
Why is Rome no longer a monarchy and what did it turn into?
Well after being ruled as a republic for a while, a man named Julius Ceaser changed it all.
Wait, so what happen ed next?
