When the chapter begins Odysseus is at Skyria outside his boat that is going to take him home.
They get home and unload the boat and leave Odysseus sleeping with his treasure hidden. His crew then walks home and he wakes up with a mist around him.
A shepherd who is Athena in disguise comes to him and tells him where he actually is.
Athena reveals to Odysseus her true identity and says that he has to hide his treasure so he can go into town to hear his wife and sons side of the story.
Also, Poseidon has turned one of the Paiakians' ships to stone just like the prophecy said. So they have started sacrificing 12 beeves at a time and pray he doesn't surround their ports and islands with mountains. With this, they have stopped helping and letting strangers in.
Meanwhile Athena is helping Odysseus figure out a plan that will help with the suitors.
