Storyboard Text

  • No! I'm a Northern State and we do not want to count slaves!
  • Slave should be counted to determan the number of Representatives.
  • It is unfair to count slaves for representatives in the Southern States, that is half of your population!
  • Then how about we make a Compromise so some of the slaves can be counted for representation but not all of them!
  • How about we make is so that 3/5 of the slaves can be counted for, so that the whole population of slaves is not counted for but more than half of your slaves can be counted.
  • Okay, deal. At least we will have 3/5 of our slaves counted for representation.
  • I think that all states should have two house legislatures and the representation should be based by population. Like the Virginia Plan says.
  • No! There are smaller states and they only need one house legislature and want equal representation.
  • What are we going to do? There are different size states and that's how the legislature and representation should be counted!
  • I say we make a compromise where we meet in the middle between the Virginia and New Jersey plan.
  • I agree, with the House of Representatives we will have equal representation like the Virginia Plan says, and for congress we will have proportional representation for the New Jersey plan!
  • We should have a Bicameral, where there is two parts of the legislature! One part can be proportional and the other can be equal representation.
