Dženeta Karabegović is a young woman who experienced her youth as a refugee. In the early 1990's, Economic troubles, an escalation of nationalism, and political leaders that exacerbated the political situation in yugoslavia led its former states to war. Dženeta was forced to move out of her home.. In 2005 Dženeta and her family went back to Bosnia, her mother almost didn't recognize the county.

The Bosnian genocide killed some of 100,000 people. It was the worst act of genocide since the Nazi destruction of 6 million Jews during World War 2. Bosnian Serbs wanted to be part of a dominant Serbian state in the Balkans.
