Storyboard Text

  • This firing on Fort Sumter started the beginning of the Civil War and the South won though nobody was killed. Jefferson Davis the president of the Confederacy appointed Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson to help hold the war in tact.
  • Soon came the bloodiest battle of the entire war the Battle of Antietam.  Over 22 thousand were killed, wounded, or missing.
  • Soon came the Battle of Gettysburg, this was the tide turner of the war and the North took a heavy advantage. Soon after was the Battle of Fort Wagner where William Carney's fame was made.
  • POP!
  • The Siege of Vicksburg was the last major battle of the war, when the starving Southern troops couldn't hold on they surrendered and everything from then went downhill. Philip Bazaar became famous around this time for the Battle of Fort Fisher.
  • Next came the announcement of the Emancipation Proclamation which freed all slaves in the 11 rebelling states from President Lincoln. (I apologize for having two on one slide I can't make 7...) The Appomattox Court House was one of last deciding battles of the war and was a significant win for the North.
  • After the conflict of the war, Southerners were still upset so they assassinated President Lincoln making more conflict for the two different sides.
