I must save Eurydice from the horrid Underworld so that we may be reunited!
"Orpheus took his lyre and made his way to the yawning cave which leads down into the underworld, where the soul of dead Eurydice had gone." Page 916
After Eurydice dies of a snake bite, Orpheus decides to rescue her from the Underworld.
" In the farthest corners of the place of punishment, the hissing flames stood still." Page 916
You may leave with Eurydice, but you must not look at her until you leave the underworld!
I came here to save my true love from this wretched place!
Hades gives his terms for Orpheus and Eurydice to be reunited.
What if I was tricked by the mean Hades? I should make sure Eurydice is really behind me...
"It was dark and misty, full of strange shapes and noises, yet in many places merely black and silent as the tomb." Page 917
Orpheus doubts Hades and decides he should check to see if Eurydice is following him.
