  • Mrs. Mallard was happy about her husbands death, but the rest of the family did not know about the sudden out burst. "Free, free, free!"
  • We had thought that Mrs. Mallard was devastated that her husband Mr. Mallard passed away, but towards the end she was ecstatic about his death.  "Free! body and soul free! "
  • Mrs. Mallard seems to be unhappy with how her life is going and wants her life to be shortened. Until one day she hears that her husband died  she suddenly seemed happy and wanted to live a long life "She had loved sometimes. Often she did not, the unsolved mystery count for in the face of this possession of self-assertion, suddenly recognized as the strongest impulse of her being."
