  • We want Change
  • Afrikaners (who were Dutch) had all the power. Only whites were in government control. Blacks had very little power.
  • Stage 3 Revolution
  • It was not allowed for blacks to work or live in certain places of the town. Blacks could not vote. Marriage between blacks and whites was illegal.
  • Stage 4 Recovery
  • All South Africans races started protesting against apartheid. ANC( African national congress) held many different marches, strikes, and other protests.
  • The only way the Protests were stopped was with violence. Police killed nearly 70 people and injured 180 people in Sharpeville, South Africa.
  • Mandela was sent to prison for going against the government. De Klerk took Mandela out of prison in 1990. After he was out of prison he was elected president, he made South Africa right again.
