It was terrible I tell you, these people who were merely mentally sick were treated like animals in a cage, living in harsh conditions and overcrowded.
She then took her findings and educated people to bring light to the mistreated mentally ill. She was determined to help these people.
We must create better facilities to ensure the safety of these poor people!

Dix went through with her goals and made the asylums more suitable for the mentally ill citizens. She worked hard and became known for her help.
Due to the hard work of Dorothy Dix, American mental asylums are now in better shape and form then ever, providing the care and help the mentally ill need and deserve.
