Germans living in Sudetenland wanted to unite with Germany. The Nazi party grew in strength in this area. Hitler promised to annex Sudetenland in protection of Germans, loss of this area would result in a defenseless Czechoslovakia.
In September of 1938: Mussolini, Chamberlain, and Daladier were invited to the Munich Conference. Chamberlain and Daladier later accepted Hitler’s demand that the Sudetenland be joined with Germany.
German troops invaded Czechoslovakia taking over many port cities. Once again, the League of Nations failed to be effective against Germany. On the other hand, British and France no longer ignored Germany and began to prepare for war.
