Storyboard Text

  • I will begin this town meeting with a brief prayer.
  • Greece Town Meeting
  • How did you feel about the prayer in the meeting today?
  • Not everyone is Christian, so that was unacceptable. I'm suing!!!
  • Does the invocation of prayer at a legislative session violate the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment even in the absence of discrimination in the selection of prayer-givers and content?
  • Town of Greece v. Galloway November 6, 2013
  • Their prayers are not welcome in the town's legislation.
  • I understand you were offended, but there was no requirement for the public's participation in this prayer.
  • Their prayers were obviously Christian and it's wrong to assume any one religion's practice.
  • We declare a 5-4 decision that the town meeting's prayers do NOT violate the First Amendment's Establishment Clause
  • Court Decision Day May 5, 2014
  • *sigh* Well, I guess I was wrong after all.
