The small town is filled with the people from the community. They are meeting up for the annual lottery that occurs once a year. The head of the household, mostly the husband, has to draw a crumbled up paper from the box to see who gets the paper with a black dot on it.
I wonder who got the card with the black dot.
I got it!! This is unbelievable. I still believe this is unfair.
Mr.Hutchinson opens the paper when everybody realizes he is the one who got the dotted paper. Mrs.Hutchinson was very disappointed and claims that the drawing was unfair and her husband didn't deserve the paper he got.
I don't deserve to be treated like this!
Now everybody in the Hutchinson family needs to draw one of the papers and see who gets the paper with a black dot out of the family. This includes Mrs & Mr Hutchinson and their three children.
The members of the family each open up there crumbled papers. Nobody has the paper with a black dot on it. But, when Mrs.Hutchinson opens her paper there is a black dot right in the middle.
Mrs.Hutchinson still argues about how unfair it is. However, the members of the town grab the stones they collected earlier.
Even though Mrs.Hutchinson continued to believe it was unfair it didn't stop the rest of the town. The people in the town grabbed the rocks and stones they had gathered early. Mrs.Hutchinson was in the center of the crowd as they circled her, ready to throw the stones.
