Horatio and Marcellus were guarding the tower and a ghost shows up. They tell Hamlet, and while standing in the tower the ghost appears and it wants Hamlet to come with him. Horatio said not to go, but Hamlet does and they follow. The Ghost says he's Hamlets father and his brother killed him.
Hamlet puts on a play in front of his uncle and mother, enacting what the ghost told him happened, about the murder. Hamlet put on this play to determine if the ghost was telling the truth, and if his uncle was actually guilty.
After the play, Claudius went to a spot were he was alone and confessed to killing his brother. Hamlet almost killed him, but didn't.
