  • The "Flight to Varennes" occurs when the royal family -King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette- attempt to free France; they're captured and returned to their home. June 20-21
  • The guillotine becomes the official method of execution March 20 Queen Marie Antoinette(Oct,16) and King Luis XVI(Jan,21) are executed by guillotine
  • The Directory establishes the French Consulate with Napoleon as Leader of France; end of Revolution. November 9, 1799
