  • This scene is at the beginning of the story when it says that everyone had attended Miss Emily's funeral.

  • The inciting incident is when Miss Emily's father passes away and doesn't allow him to be buried so she keeps him in the house for 3 days.
  • Rising Action
  • The rising action of the story is when a man named Homer Barron comes into town and Miss Emily immediately falls in love.  She even believes that they are destined to be married.
  • The climax is when Miss Emily decides to go and buy the stongest poison there was.  After talking to the pharmacist he ended up giving her arsenic.
  • The falling action is when the townspeople start to smell an awful scent coming from Miss Emily's home.  They decide to put lime in her cellar but the scent still lingers.
  • The conclusion/resolution of the story is after Miss Emily had died and they break into the house to find Homer Barrons decomposing body.
