Storyboard Text

  • Grandpa, can you please explain how Rutherford's Atomic Model works?
  • Of course darling, of course.
  • Rutherford is known for his work with the gold foil experiment and he discovered that atom had a dense nucleus.
  •     He just wanted to test the plum pudding model, which it belongs to J.J Thomson(his teacher).
  • As I said, he is best known for his gold foil experiment. In his gold foil experiment: he found out that when you shoot a beam of alpha particles at a sheet of gold foil, a few of the alpha particles deflect. He concluded that the reason of the deflections was because of a tiny, dense nucleus.
  • Wow! Thanks a lot Grandpa! Now, I have learned a lot of things about Ernest Rutherford!
